TINA LUMSDEN
Textile Designer
.Label - T DOUBLE L
Kia ora my name is Tina Lumsden and I am the designer and manufacturer of
T Double L products.
I live in Takahiwai a small Maori
community on the edge of
Whangarei Harbour in Northland.
I went to school at Bream Bay College in Ruakaka. When all my friends went off to uni, I stayed home and went to work in a local sewing factory in Whangarei for two years. After learning the industrial sewing skills I went to Northland Polytechnic and gained a diploma in Textile and Fashion Design in 1998. I then went on to work in Auckland in the high paced world of fashion where my role was in design, pattern making, production and business operations. After five years I had decided to come home and start something for myself. For two years I taught part time at Northland polytechnic teaching on the fashion and textiles course while I was coming up with concepts of my business. In 2006 I became self employed and have never looked back!
As for the future I want to continue producing products that are inspired by my local surroundings and give enjoyment to locals and tourists alike that highlight the fact what a wonderful country we live in!
